Student Service Hour Opportunities
BCWA offers volunteering options to students in need of a few service hours or to those in need of project-based opportunities. Our project leaders regularly work with scouts and students to create a plan based on the needs of the student and our organization. For general information, read the volunteering descriptions below. Join our Outdoor Volunteer Crews
Our very active field crews work on habitat restoration including invasive control, planting and seed collection. Other efforts include boardwalk and trail construction, repair, and maintenance. Training is provided. Volunteer crews begin field work in mid-March and run through mid-November depending on weather. Saturday crews work weekly from 9am – 12pm, and Sunday crews from 1pm – 4pm, but may change to 9am – 12pm when the weather is hot. Opportunities offered during the week are not on a regular schedule. Weekday work crews may be similar to the weekend tasks, but are more likely boardwalk maintenance or building. We provide training and education, so everyone is welcome! Thank You Note Writing
Volunteer to write thank you notes for BCWA. We provide the stationery, envelopes and stamps. You provide your written words. Email Shandah at sbrannen@beavercreekwetlands.org to volunteer.
Be a BCWA Ambassador
Anyone can be an ambassador for BCWA by promoting our conservation efforts, educational programs, or the Spotted Turtle Trail to schools, businesses and the community. We will provide literature you need. Volunteering at the BCWA booth at events such as the Midwest Native Plant Conference or Outdoor Experience is another way to engage the community. Read our Volunteer Talking Points page to prepare for the event. Booth opportunities, when available, are listed in the weekly, volunteer email notices. Plan or Help with Events and Programs
Join our engagement committee to help plan upcoming events such as the annual meeting, educational walks or programs like Monarch Tagging. The committee typically meets once a month and works together to create informative, meaningful and fun events. Email Beth at bedsall@beavercreekwetlands.org to volunteer.
