Projects
BCWA needs help with the following projects. Team coordinators work with the BCWA Administrator to communicate with the team, to ensure
people know when and where to arrive for work and what to bring. Questions, call BCWA Administrator Bob Limbert at 320-9042.
Purple Loosestrife Beetle Collection
May 21st (Depart on May 20th)
We will be transporting beetles that will help control Purple Loosestrife from Pickerel Creek. We will be departing on the 20th of May
so we can collect while it is still cool and the beetles are less active. If you are interested in helping collect and move the beetles
contact Jim Amon technical@beavercreekwetlands.org
Creekside Reserve
Starting in March Saturdays 9:00 AM
Come join the volunteers of Creekside Reserve and Greene County Parks any Saturday morning from early spring through fall,
weather permitting. In addition to the ongoing process of removing invasive plants (bush honeysuckle, garlic mustard, lesser
Celandine, narrow leaf cattails) and other maintenance activities, the focus in 2010 will be restoration of the massive area
disturbed by the Little Beaver Creek stream restoration project. (please see The Spotted Turtle Winter 2009 edition for more
information.) Hundreds of native trees and shrubs will be planted along the improved stream, and wetland sedges and flowers
will be planted in a large area of the former streambed.
Expert on-site guidance will be provided. Creekside Reserve is located along Route 35 between Fairfield Road and Factory
Road. Please contact Don Geiger Donald.Geiger@notes.udayton.edu to let us
know we can expect you, to obtain directions to the work site or if there are any questions or concerns.
Koogler Reserve
Sundays, 2:00 PM Check Events Calendar for dates.
Come join the volunteers of the Koogler Reserve. We are cutting and spraying honeysuckle, building/improving trails and
generally improving the Koogler Reserve for trail access for the public. Volunteers should meet at the Koogler Reserve parking
lot on Beaver Valley Road. They should bring saws, loppers and chainsaws for cutting and they should wear work gloves and high
boots as the area can be very wet.. Light rain or mist should not prevent work but heavy rain, wind or snow is a no-go.
Expert on-site guidance will be provided. Koogler Reserve is located on the corner of New Germany-Trebein Road and Beaver
Valley Road. The parking lot is located just south of the traffic light at New Germany-Trebein Road and Beaver Valley Road.
Please contact Rob Evans webmaster@beavercreekwetlands.org to let us
know we can expect you, to obtain directions to the work site or if there are any questions or concerns.
